Maybe you’re getting ready to put your home on the market. Or maybe you’re just looking to freshen up your home for spring. An inexpensive, easy way to brighten up your home is to improve your curb appeal. Updating the outside gives the home an instant finished look.
The easiest thing to do? Paint your front door. The entryway is the focal point of any house. Make a statement by giving your white door a blast of color. Reds, blues and greens compliment many colors of siding. Consider updating your hardware as well – new hinges and door knobs. If that’s not in your budget, use a metal polish on the knobs. Add a seasonal wreath that reflects your home’s style and personality. Buy a fresh, modern welcome mat.
Replace your old light fixtures and consider adding more lighting to your landscape. Solar stake lights save you money and are very easy to install along a walk way.
Bring in greenery. If you don’t want to commit to a garden, buy large plant containers and place them near your front steps. Buy a couple hanging flowers and put them up over your porch’s ceiling.
Mulch is one of the cheapest ways to pull a yard together. And the darker the mulch, the better. Not only does it make an area look freshly landscaped but it also helps conserve soil moisture.
Do you have a wooden fence, shed or play set? Wood faded from the sun makes a yard look tired. Buy a semitransparent stain to even out discoloration and freshen up all woodwork. You can pull together all wooden elements in the yard by using the same color.
