Two schools in the village, Voorheesville Elementary School and Clayton A. Bouton High School, service the village itself, most parts of the Town of New Scotland and the hamlet of Slingerlands, with some students coming from the outskirts of the Town of Guilderland, Town of Bethlehem, and Village of Altamont.
Thacher State Park is a premiere destination in Voorheesville. Thatcher Park draws people from all around the area. Some come to see the spectacular 100 mile view. Others come to hike the trails, look in the caves and walk under the waterfall. A number of families hold parties each weekend in reserved parts of the park. The park provides grills and picnic tables. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail.
